Moscow Police Department responded to a range of calls on August 17, 2026, ranging from noise complaints tied to football practice to a hit-and-run collision and welfare concerns, according to the department’s daily activity log posted August 18.

Noise and Disruption Complaints

One resident reported that football practice starting at 6 a.m. was disrupting sleep and expected the disruptions to continue for one to two weeks. Officers also fielded a complaint about four vehicles parked in a way that blocked sidewalk access and visibility in the area.

In another parking-related incident, members of a sorority were found parking in a fraternity’s private parking lot, blocking access to the facility. Officers addressed the unauthorized parking.

Safety and Welfare Concerns

Police conducted a welfare check after a caller with a language barrier reported that a subject stated he was “killing himself,” though no weapons were mentioned in the call. Officers responded to assess the situation.

A separate welfare check was requested for a daughter at the 2400 block of West Pullman Road near Walmart. The caller expressed concern about a potentially abusive relationship and reported that the male half of the household was restricting the daughter’s contact with her father. Officers conducted a check on the individual’s wellbeing.

Another call involved a bat found in a hallway on the first floor of a residence, requiring response to address the animal intrusion.

Traffic and Property Incidents

A fender bender was reported on northbound Washington Street. The other driver fled the scene approximately five minutes before police arrived, leaving the reporting party to file details of a hit-and-run collision.

A gun check was requested at the 2100 block of West Pullman Road at a Jersey Mike’s Sub location, though specific details of the request were not elaborated in the log.

Officers also processed a mobile home requiring a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) inspection and conducted a custodial child exchange standby at an unspecified location, providing neutral supervision for a custody handoff between parents.

Late-Night Incident

Late in the evening, officers responded to a report of fireworks being discharged over a residence. Males were observed fleeing down an alley following the incident.

The log reflects the variety of calls Moscow Police handle daily, from noise ordinance enforcement and parking violations to serious welfare checks and traffic incidents. Moscow Police regularly respond to burglaries, weapons complaints, and assorted calls across the city, according to previous department activity records.

The Moscow Police Department gained national attention following the 2022 deaths of four University of Idaho students, an incident that drew extensive media scrutiny and raised questions about investigative practices in the community.
