University of Idaho Golf Course, Restaurant Operate Through Parking Lot Construction

Sawtooth Valley, Idaho

Vandal Golf Course and The Lookout Restaurant and Bar will remain open during a temporary parking lot closure at the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, with the university providing alternate parking and shuttle service to accommodate visitors.

The primary parking lot serving both facilities closes Wednesday, August 19, with construction expected to conclude by Tuesday, September 1. The closure supports ongoing improvements to Nez Perce Drive.

Alternate Parking and Transportation

The university has designated three replacement parking areas to serve patrons during the two-week closure. Lot 83, located along Perimeter Drive, functions as the primary shuttle pickup point. Lot 34W, situated near P1FCU Kibbie Dome, provides secondary shuttle service and overflow parking capacity. For visitors able to walk to the facilities, Lot 84 along Nez Perce Drive offers accessible parking.

A free shuttle service will transport visitors from the alternate lots to both the golf course and restaurant. The university also offers golf bag drop service at an alternate location to reduce carry-in inconvenience for golfers using the facility during construction.

Course and Restaurant Continue Operations

Both Vandal Golf Course and The Lookout maintain regular operating hours throughout the parking disruption. The golf course serves as a recreation and training facility for the university community and the broader Moscow area. The Lookout operates as a dining venue on campus.

University officials coordinated the parking arrangements to minimize disruption to regular patrons while allowing essential infrastructure work to proceed on schedule. The temporary nature of the closure—limited to approximately two weeks—keeps both businesses accessible to their regular customer base during the construction period.

Visitors should use the designated alternate lots and allow additional time for shuttle transit when planning visits during the closure window.
