University of Idaho Basketball Team to Host Youth Clinic at Sandpoint High School

The University of Idaho men’s basketball team will bring its youth camp to Bonner County next week, offering instruction to young players at Sandpoint High School.

The clinic is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, running for two hours at the school gymnasium. The camp welcomes co-ed participants in grades two through eight and costs $40 per attendee.

Following the instructional clinic, the Vandal roster will conduct a public practice in the same gym, which is free to attend. The University of Idaho men’s basketball program earned an NCAA tournament appearance last season, bringing recent tournament-level competition experience to the coaching and playing staff leading the session.

Sandpoint High School boys’ basketball coach Will Love expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity. “We are excited to have a team that appeared in last season’s NCAA tournament come to Sandpoint High to work with youth athletes interested in improving their skills,” Love said. He added that “receiving skill development from the Vandal coaching staff and players is an amazing opportunity for basketball in Bonner County.”

Youth basketball camps offer young players direct access to college-level instruction and training methods. For families in the Palouse region and surrounding Idaho communities, the Sandpoint venue provides regional access to University of Idaho athletics programming.

The Idaho Vandals men’s basketball program has also earned academic recognition, recently receiving honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches for student-athlete achievement.

What Comes Next: The clinic takes place July 23 at Sandpoint High School. Registration information and additional details about camp logistics should be confirmed directly with Sandpoint High School or the University of Idaho athletics office.
