A 43-year-old Moscow motorcyclist died in a collision on US Highway 95 near mile post 348 in Latah County on Wednesday evening, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and temporary closure of the roadway.
Idaho State Police said the crash occurred just after 6:10 p.m. when a northbound 2019 Toyota Rav4 turned onto Estes Road and struck a southbound 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the impact. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The Toyota’s driver, an 87-year-old Moscow resident, was medically cleared on scene and did not require hospitalization.
Traffic on US-95 northbound and southbound was blocked between mile posts 348 and 349 for approximately three hours while emergency personnel worked at the scene. The Moscow Fire Department, Latah Volunteer Fire Department, Latah County Sheriff’s Department, and Idaho Transportation Department assisted State Police with the response. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
State Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
What Comes Next: Idaho State Police will complete their investigation into the collision and determine contributing factors. Additional details may be released as the inquiry concludes. A previous fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 95 north of Moscow underscores ongoing safety concerns on the corridor. Residents and travelers are reminded to exercise caution at intersections and when turning across traffic lanes.
