University of Idaho Dedicates Healing Garden to Honor 2022 Homicide Victims and Fallen Students

The University of Idaho has opened the Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial, a dedicated space honoring the four students killed in the November 2022 homicides as well as all University of Idaho students who passed away while enrolled at the Moscow campus.

The memorial provides a place of reflection for the Vandal community, acknowledging both the four victims of the tragic 2022 killings and the broader loss felt across campus when any student dies before completing their education. The garden was opened in late June 2026, nearly four years after the homicides shocked the university and the broader Latah County community.

The University of Idaho has worked in recent years to address student well-being on multiple fronts. For more on university developments, see coverage of the Aerial Arts Camp returning to Hartung Theater and ongoing discussions about federal loan rules that could affect key U of I programs.
