The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office has begun mailing hundreds of thousands of official voter pamphlets to households across the state ahead of the 2026 general election. The mailings mark the start of the campaign season for voters preparing for November.
“Election season is underway,” Secretary of State Phil McGrane said. “Every household in Idaho can expect to receive a Voter Pamphlet with the information you need to be ready to vote in November.”
Ballot Measures Outlined
The pamphlet provides details on several key ballot questions that will appear on the November ballot. Proposition 1 seeks to end the state’s abortion ban and establish reproductive rights protections. Voters will also consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would restrict drug legalization authority exclusively to the Legislature.
Additionally, the materials cover a constitutional amendment proposing English as the state’s official language and an advisory question soliciting public opinion on declaring a state gun. The document also outlines key election dates, voting options, and voter registration procedures.
Pamphlet Format Remains Unchanged
The current pamphlet does not include information about candidates running for office. In 2023 and 2024, the Idaho Legislature declined to approve a bill proposed by Secretary McGrane that would have replaced the voter pamphlet with a comprehensive voter guide. A voter guide would have included candidate information alongside ballot measures.
A 2024 poll indicated that 78% of Idahoans favored a state-issued voter guide, but legislative action has not yet occurred to change the format. The edition of the pamphlet being distributed is titled “America 250,” celebrating 250 years of American history.
Digital Resources Available
Voters who prefer digital access or need alternative formats can find the pamphlet online at VoteIdaho.gov. The resource is available in Spanish and in audio format for accessibility. The website also allows voters to view their specific ballot preview and access other election resources.
