Two Potlatch Residents Die After UTV Plunges Into River Near St. Maries
Two Potlatch residents — a 52-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman — died Friday night after the side-by-side utility vehicle they were riding in left a roadway and plunged into a river near St. Maries, the Idaho State Police reported.
The crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. along the 9000 block of Railroad Grade Road in Benewah County. Authorities said the pair were traveling in a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Sport when the vehicle left the road, descended an embankment, and entered the water. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
