Two Potlatch Residents Die After UTV Plunges Into River Near St. Maries
A man and woman from Potlatch lost their lives late Friday evening after a side-by-side utility vehicle left a roadway, went down an embankment, and plunged into a river near St. Maries in Benewah County, according to the Idaho State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the area of the 9000 block of Railroad Grade Road. ISP investigators said the pair were riding in a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Sport when the vehicle left the road. The man was 52 years old and the woman was 51. Neither was wearing a seat belt. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
