Extended Weekday Hours, Friday Closures Begin June 8
Moscow city government offices will adopt a modified summer schedule starting Monday, June 8, operating four days per week with extended hours through late August.
Administrative offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and closed on Fridays, continuing through Friday, August 21. The schedule compresses the standard 40-hour work week into four 10-hour days.
City officials said the change follows a successful trial period conducted in 2025 and aims to give residents more flexibility to access city services outside traditional business hours on weekdays.
Emergency Services, Recreation Facilities Unaffected
The Moscow Police Department and Moscow Fire Department will maintain normal operational hours throughout the summer. The Hamilton Indoor Recreation Center and Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center will also continue regular schedules.
Construction inspection services will remain available Monday through Friday, though appointments will be required. Residents needing inspection services should contact city offices to schedule.
Streamlined Access for Working Residents
The compressed work week allows Moscow residents who work standard hours to visit city offices before or after their own workdays without taking time off. The 7:00 a.m. opening time and 5:30 p.m. closing provide a wider window for conducting city business.
City employees will continue working full-time hours under the arrangement, with no reduction in staffing levels or service capacity during the four-day schedule.
What Comes Next
The summer schedule runs for approximately 11 weeks. City officials indicated the program represents part of ongoing efforts to improve service delivery to the Moscow community.
Residents with questions about the modified schedule or needing to access city services can call (208) 883-7000 or email comms@ci.moscow.id.us. Information is also available on the City of Moscow website.
The Friday closures apply only to administrative offices. Public safety services and recreation facilities will operate normally throughout the summer period.
