Latah County employees will receive an extended holiday break surrounding the Fourth of July as part of the nationwide America250 celebration marking the United States’ 250th birthday.
County commissioners voted on June 26 to designate July 2 and July 6 as paid holidays for eligible county employees. The move aligns with an executive order issued by Gov. Brad Little earlier this week granting state employees the same extended break.
Most Latah County offices will be closed to the public from July 2 through July 6. However, several essential operations will continue with modified hours. District Courts and the Latah County Sheriff’s Office will remain open on July 2 and July 6 but will be closed on July 3.
Residents planning to visit county recreational facilities during the holiday stretch should note that county parks remain open despite the office closures. The Latah County Fairgrounds and Events Center will also stay open July 2 through July 6 to accommodate previously scheduled events, and the RV Park at the fairgrounds will remain accessible throughout the entire holiday weekend.
What Comes Next
Latah County offices are expected to return to regular operating hours on Monday, July 7. Residents needing county services during the extended closure are encouraged to plan ahead or check the county’s official website for contact information and online service options.
