The University of Idaho women’s soccer team ended its non-conference schedule with a 1-1 draw against the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Friday night at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome in Moscow. The result caps a 6-2-2 record for the Vandals before they shift focus to Big Sky Conference competition.
Gonzaga struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute on a goal by junior Amelia Severn. Idaho responded in the second half when sophomore Mia Boltz converted a cross from senior Georgia Whitehead to level the score at 1-1.
The match was physical, with both squads committing a combined 15 fouls and receiving one yellow card between them. Statistically, the Vandals controlled possession metrics, outshooting Gonzaga 9-6 and earning four corner kicks compared to two for the Bulldogs. However, finishing proved difficult for both sides; Idaho recorded only one shot on goal while Gonzaga managed two. Vandal senior goalkeeper Paula Flores made a single save during the contest.
A crowd of 629 spectators watched the non-conference finale inside the dome. The Bulldogs finished their out-of-conference slate with a 5-4-2 record.
Idaho will begin Big Sky Conference play on Thursday against Weber State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, with coverage available on ESPN+.
