The University of Idaho football program has added two players to its roster ahead of the 2026 season, with quarterback Israel Carter and defensive lineman Da’Vaughn Robinson signing with the Vandals following the conclusion of spring practice.
Head coach Thomas Ford Jr. and his staff announced the signings as recruiting efforts continue. Both players are expected to arrive in Moscow in time for summer workouts and fall camp.
Quarterback Addition Brings Experience
Israel Carter, a 6-foot-1 quarterback from Corona, California, joins the Vandals as a redshirt junior. Carter played four games for Norfolk State in 2025 under head coach Michael Vick, completing 58 percent of his passes with 19 completions on 33 attempts for 127 yards. He also contributed 40 rushing yards.
Before Norfolk State, Carter spent two seasons at South Florida, appearing in seven games total and throwing four touchdown passes in 2024. As a high school recruit in 2023, Carter was rated as a three-star prospect and the 19th-ranked quarterback in his class by On3.
During his senior season at Centennial High School, Carter accounted for more than 2,400 all-purpose yards and 34 touchdowns while leading his team to the California state playoffs. He earned an invitation to the 2022 U.S. Army All-America Bowl, where he scored a rushing touchdown, and received Quarterback MVP honors at the Under Armour All-America Camp. Carter threw just two interceptions during his final three high school seasons.
Carter joins a quarterback room that includes returning starters Joshua Wood and Jack Wagner, who both started games for Idaho in 2025, along with Sawyer Teeney, who saw playing time as a true freshman last season.
Defensive Line Gets JUCO Transfer
Da’Vaughn Robinson arrives from Moorpark College in California, where he played the 2025 season. The 6-foot-1, 250-pound defensive lineman from Avondale, Arizona, helped lead the Raiders to a 5-2 conference record.
Robinson anchored a Moorpark defense that topped the Southern California Football Association in team sacks with 34. He led his team with seven sacks, which tied for third in the conference. Robinson also ranked in the top eight in the SCFA with 14 tackles for loss, accounting for 79 yards lost, and recorded one forced fumble.
As a high school senior at La Joya Community High School, Robinson recorded 63 total tackles, including 12 for loss. His six sacks ranked in the top three in 4A Southwest football. He also contributed on offense with nine carries for 31 yards and a touchdown, plus ten receptions for 118 yards.
Robinson will join a veteran defensive line that includes returning players Titus Ringor, Mitchel Jaskowiak, and Frederick Lujan III under defensive coordinator Lee Stalker.
What Comes Next
Both Carter and Robinson will participate in summer workouts with the team before fall camp begins. The additions strengthen position groups that return significant experience from the 2025 season. The Vandals coaching staff continues recruiting efforts as the program prepares for the upcoming season.
Idaho football has not yet announced its 2026 schedule or additional roster moves.
