Free Public Event Set for April 24
The City of Moscow and the Moscow Tree Commission will join with the University of Idaho to plant a cascara tree on campus this Thursday in recognition of Arbor Day. The tree planting is scheduled for April 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Guy Wicks Field Student Pollinator Garden.
The event is free and open to all community members, including families with children. Organizers have confirmed that the activity is designed to be kid-friendly.
The Guy Wicks Field Student Pollinator Garden sits on the western edge of the University of Idaho campus, positioned between the Student Recreation Center and Stadium Drive along the pathway. Event attendees can park in Lot 62, which is accessible from Stadium Drive.
Free Native Tree Seedlings Available
While supplies last, residents attending the Arbor Day celebration can take home free tree seedlings. The available varieties include ocean spray, serviceberry, red oak, and catalpa trees. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
These species offer a range of benefits for local landscapes, from native pollinator support to shade and seasonal color.
