The University of Idaho women’s tennis team saw its 2025-26 season come to an end Thursday in Phoenix, falling 4-1 to top-seeded Sacramento State in the Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinals.
The Vandals finished the year with an 11-11 overall record after advancing to the second round with a commanding win over Eastern Washington earlier in the tournament.
Hornets Dominate Early
Sacramento State entered the match as the top seed after receiving a first-round bye and wasted no time establishing control. The Hornets captured the doubles point by winning two of three matches, with Lou Baudouin and Emilija Pranyte defeating Idaho’s Ida Johansson and Hanna Koprowska 6-2, while Reese Walker and Cami Maldonado posted an identical 6-2 victory over Valentina Rodas and Chenyue Xu.
Jessica Matthews and Naomi Schraeder were locked in a 4-4 tie with their opponents when the doubles point was decided.
Johansson Provides Lone Victory
Idaho’s Ida Johansson, a junior, delivered the team’s only point of the afternoon with a dominant performance on court four. Johansson shut out her opponent 6-0 in the first set before cruising to a 6-4 victory in the second, tying the match at 1-1.
Sacramento State responded by claiming three consecutive singles matches to secure the semifinal victory. Lou Baudouin defeated Hanna Koprowska 7-5, 7-5 on court two, while Irene Riva took down Naomi Schraeder 6-3, 6-4 on court three. Emilija Pranyte clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Valentina Rodas on court five.
Two singles matches remained unfinished when Sacramento State secured the team victory.

Sacramento State improved to 18-5 on the season and advanced to the tournament championship match, where they will face Northern Arizona on Saturday.
