Fatality Crash Highway 95 Milepost 469, Sagle, Idaho.

Two Dead, Two Injured After Head-On Collision on Highway 95 Near Sagle

Two men from Sandpoint lost their lives Sunday afternoon following a head-on crash on US Highway 95 in Bonner County, near the community of Sagle. Idaho State Police are investigating the collision, which occurred around 1:25 p.m. on May 25, 2026, close to milepost 469.

Authorities say an 18-year-old Sandpoint man driving a red 2011 Buick LaCrosse southbound on US-95 drifted left of center and collided head-on with a northbound white 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup operated by a 65-year-old Sandpoint resident.

The Buick’s driver and a passenger — a 48-year-old Sandpoint man — both died at the scene. Officials noted that all occupants in both vehicles were belted at the time of impact.

The two people inside the Ram were transported to a local hospital with injuries. One was taken by ground ambulance and the other flown out by air ambulance. Their conditions have not been publicly released.

The highway was intermittently closed for roughly three hours while emergency crews worked the scene. Next of kin for the deceased had not yet been notified as of the initial report, and the investigation remains ongoing under Idaho State Police District 1, which covers Bonner County and surrounding Northern Idaho counties.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact Idaho State Police District 1 in Coeur d’Alene.

What Comes Next

Idaho State Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the lane departure. No charges have been announced. Further details, including the identities of those killed, are expected to be released once next of kin have been formally notified.
