A Friday night off-road vehicle crash in Benewah County claimed the lives of two Latah County residents, according to Idaho State Police.
The collision occurred around 9:25 p.m. near the 9000 block of Railroad Grade Road outside St. Maries. A 52-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, both from Potlatch, were riding in a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Sport when the side-by-side utility vehicle departed the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and came to rest in the river below.
Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
