Two Potlatch Residents Dead After UTV Goes Off Road Into River Near St. Maries
A man and woman from Potlatch died Friday evening after the side-by-side utility vehicle they were riding in plunged off a road and into a river near St. Maries, Idaho State Police reported.
The crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. on Railroad Grade Road in Benewah County, roughly near the 9000 block. Authorities said the pair were aboard a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Sport when the vehicle left the roadway, descended an embankment, and entered the river.
The victims, a 52-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Idaho State Police.
